1) Is the comprehension process different on the internet?
Yes it is. It is so much differ from the comprehension printed on paper or text as comprehension on the internet more convenient with the help of hyperlink and hypertext. We can search for the word that we don't understand by clicking the word (usually the word will be coloured).
2) If so, what new processes are required beyond those needed to comprehend conventional (traditional) print?
Through online reading, we can comprehend each comprehension via hyperlink, hypertext and hypermedia. These three processes helps a lot in our understanding of the comprehension that we read. What we have to do is just clicking the hyperlink, hypertext or hypermedia then the things that we want to find will appear eventually.
3) Are these processes extensions of traditional comprehension skills? Or, do web-based learning environment demand different skills?
Yes i do think that these processes are extensions of traditional comprehension skills. It is because we have to find word by word if we don't understand the meaning in the traditional comprehension. The hyperlink, hypertext and hypermedia definitely help a lot to the online readers to understand better.
4) What are the skills needed?
One of the skills is to understand the text and find out the main point of the text. With the help of hyperlink and hypertext, if we don't understand the text then it is worthless for us to read. Then, we also have to know how to search for the informations that we want on internet. We have to know what we want to find and how we can find the informations. Don't just sitting in front of the computer and search nothing for the whole day.
